Well there you have it, the tourist traps of Paris. Oh but the excitement doesn't stop there, oh no, stay tuned for more posts from Paris featuring dead rock stars, poets, and a couple good looking people, not to mention my attempt to follow in the footsteps of Amelie which almost ended in the breaking of both my legs... Abientot!

Le Fabuleux Destin de Declan Doant
On the third day of December, I left the comfort of my friends and flat to journey into La Ville des Lumieres. I had tried to make Giuseppe come along for the adventure but the bastard would not budge. Therefore I was alone and had to make do with self taken pictures on a borrowed camera. I prepared myself for a lonely weekend without love in the capital of love, but instead I got scammed out of 300 euros and spit in love's face. Paris Je T'aime!

You may call me Giuseppe

What you're reading now is my very first blog post. I suppose you could say its my first ring around the rosie, my first rodeo, or popping my...you get the picture. Speaking of which, my photography will make up most of my posts, with a dash of recipes and off-the-beaten path political banter. I do hope I am not exiled from the den for such talk. I am only posting a hand full of photos tonight, but please check in regularly for future updates. All photos were taken in the United Kingdom.
Giuseppe
We Accept Him One of Us!
Everyone, my roommate over here in London is going to start posting some of his intellect in the den starting tonight. Giuseppe, as he would like to be called, will be posting pictures, recipes, and useful tidbits of "Donkphant" knowledge. Give him a warm welcome and comment on his posts... but not until after you comment on mine! You cunts, you killed my scooter!

Shadows on a River... I'm Wet
These guys hail from Millikin University (woot woot!) and are currently making waves in the Chicago area. I have the first album from these guys when they were called The Infinity Room and I just bought the new album last night. It is strikingly beautiful! Reviewers and bloggers compare them to Radiohead and Elliot Smith, but they don't imitate anyone in a way that crosses lines. The coolest part about this album is that they were able to create lusciously layered haunting music directly out of their apartment. One of the guys from Berry helped out this time which I think is slightly evident, but then again all artists grow and this is pure evidence of that. You can buy the new CD on iTunes. Please do!

All Saints Makes Me Sin
If you are feeling extra nice this Christmas...
A vest within a vest? Seems like more bang for your buck to me! Sure the sweater may be sheer (a new obsession of mine) but the extremely floppy turtleneck should keep me warm. I already have a military wool coat, but this double breasted cardigan would be perfect indoors. Yes, I want to look like I have shit my pants; I can't help myself, I love drop crotch pants. What's better then the already chic snood? A snood with fringe of course! I need to sell my testicles so I can buy this shit! No but really...

Are You Fucking Me Right Now?
You know, I don't really care for real fur. If it's for you, it's for you. But honestly this is a lot to take in. I hereby dub this ugly garment The Fauxa Constrictor... I hope she has trouble breathing, falls off her bike, and skins her knees.

A Step in the Right Direction
Ponystep's Hoxton Bar and Kitchen
This place might as well be heaven...
(I didn't take these pictures)
Where can I find a shirt that fits this well...
What's their secret...
Devilish hair and a Devilish smile...
And that's how you clash patterns...
No this was not Halloween...
Cute pose or is she trying to show us something...
If you were wondering what I was wearing...
(yes that shirt is sheer. I really am that cool)
We strolled up to the door of this art-chic bar in our first week here and Cozette McCreery, the clipboard gate keeper, was kind enough to let us come in even though it is a private party on Sundays. I've been going back ever since. With patrons like Naomi Campbell, Madonna, Alexander McQeen, and Boy George, it's no wonder they host the mecca of artists once a week. They play excellent music as well with guest DJ's like the iconic Icelandic queen of wierd, BJORK! The group was invited to Paris Fashion Week where they threw one hell of a bash. We need people like this over on our side of the pond. FUCK! I'll miss it here.... The website will give you chills when you see they have their hands in everything awesome: beauty, art, fashion, music, parties... I might as well give up at this point.

The Perfect Piece of London
BURBERRY
Honestly, is there anything more iconic at the moment then Christoper Bailey's creative direction for Burberry Prorsum. I think not! He weaves Victorian beauty and classicism flawlessly into the very fibers of the fabrics with which he uses to construct these romantic, and yet, simplistic forms. Everything seems so casual and easy while maintaining a high level of sophistication. I especially love the snood scarves and the shirts for men with the attached drooping bows. I have already bought a black snood from H&M for about $15 and I plan on splurging on a great tied shirt from TOPMAN LTD. If you need anymore convincing that Burberry is the best label this fall, consider this, Hermione Granger is front and center for the ad campaign. GODDAMN!!! Bailey, most definitely, knows what looks hot, even when the weather is getting bitter...

A Foggy Day...
Well my friends, after five long weeks in London and two attempts to create a worthy blog I have finally settled with this my latest endeavor (so says he who has already deleted multiple failed attempts.) I have been trying to create my own space to collect little novelties and inspirations of fashion, music, and what I would like to think is culture. Along with this, one might find tiny insights into my everyday - or rather - minute moments which I deem worthy of bringing into the den.
At this time I am in one of the fashion capitals of the world and am enjoying almost every breath I take. I say "almost" because there are sometimes when even breathing is out of my budget. Money does indeed rule the world $$$, but I still find little bits of charm, lingering among the litter, as I walk the streets. Part of me wants to document the past five weeks of being here, but that would be a false representation of time and I don't think I could accurately describe my thoughts in hindsight. So, without any further delays, welcome to the den.
P.S. Who's excited for the new Wes Anderson movie?
